David Barthel, President and CEO of SmartPill, discusses how SmartPill is revolutionizing the detection of GI motility disorders.

The SmartPill GI Monitoring System is a new, non-invasive method for diagnosing gastrointestinal disorders more accurately and at lower cost than traditional methods. The wireless, ingestible SmartPill Capsule measures acidity (pH), pressure and temperature as it passes through the entire gastrointestinal tract, wirelessly transmitting data to a receiver worn by the patient. This data provides physicians with a new kind of information to aid in the evaluation of GI motility disorders, most notably Gastroparesis, Constipation, Dyspepsia and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, conditions which affect tens of millions of people each year. The SmartPill replaces multiple expensive, invasive and sometimes radiation-involved tests which are often unreliable.
